Project Description
In support of reclamation at the BHP San Manuel Mine Site, GSA conducted soil sampling and testing to evaluate borrow material sources as suitable growth media, estimated plant rooting depths and plant density and the potential for salt wicking from spent heap leach and waste dump material. Recommendations for cover thickness and a plant species seed mix and borrow material amendments were made with the development of revegetation specifications. GSA also established and conducted initial surveys on permanent reference vegetation transects in areas undisturbed by mining.
